The Made-to-Measure Method
Made to measure means personalised to your preferences. And it also means a precise fit, whatever the size or shape of your room. From design, templating, and approving the order to manufacture and installation – each step is carefully planned for less stress and a surface that lasts.
Four simple steps
Design
Choose your counter and customise it to your personal style with help from our designers.
Template & Approval
Our in-house surveyor visits your home to create a template. Here, you'll check and approve the order.
Manufacturing
Your bespoke worktop is made to the measurements of your exact layout at our UK factory.
Installation
Our solid surface fitter installs your bespoke worktop, leaving you with a high-end finish.
Need to know
It’s essential that you, the homeowner, or the project manager attends the template appointment to check and sign off the order. This ensures your worktop will look exactly as you expect.
Tips for templating
Bringing your bespoke worktop to life begins with a visit from our surveyors, who will measure up and create a template to your exact requirements. Before this appointment, your tradesperson should follow this helpful checklist to get the room ready and prevent delays.
Approving the order
You want your worktop to be just right – and we do too. So, when our template surveyor visits your home, they'll ask you to check the design details and any functional features before your made to measure worktop is signed off for manufacturing.
Design details
To ensure the finished product matches what you have in mind, you’ll be asked to confirm each element of the worktop design – from your selected shade and material to the thickness and profile of the surface.
Functional features
A well-fitting worktop slots seamlessly into your space alongside other features. So, our template surveyor will confirm the layout and location of your worktop, any cut outs, and the position of accessories and appliances.
Need to know
This is the final stage where you can tweak the design elements of your custom worktop, whether that is the colour you choose, your preferred profile, or additional bespoke surfaces, like upstands and backboards.
Manufacturing
It all comes together during the manufacturing process – which takes your template and transforms it into a premium feature. From hand finishing to the final quality checks, our dedicated team make your counter with care.
Precisely made
Your bespoke worktop will be made at our UK factory, where we use precision technology to achieve a flawless finish. Working to the template, your custom surface will be hand finished to smooth any rough edges.
Quality assured
Regular checks during manufacturing ensure your worktop follows your unique template. Once complete, each section is laid out and inspected to ensure they match and any veined pattern flows naturally across the worktop.
Need To Know
While there are hazards associated with cutting engineered stone or quartz products from long-term exposure to silica dust, all our working processes comply with applicable laws and guidance to ensure the safety of our employees, contractors, and end-customers at all times. For more information, read our bespoke worktops FAQs.
Installation
It takes specialist tools and extra manpower to fit a bespoke worktop. That’s why our solid surface fitters will install your custom-made counter as part of the price. There are a few installation considerations to keep in mind when our fitters are finishing your surface.
Drainer grooves
For undermount sinks, drainer grooves can be planned in at the templating stage and added during manufacturing. These create a vacuum that drains water from utensils, so your crockery can be dried and put away faster.
Joins
We'll do our best to match patterns across different panels when your worktop is being made. However, heavily veined designs, like marble, are unlikely to line up across joins, upstands, around corners, and on waterfall ends.
