Zero Waste

With more than 10,000 products in our collection, reducing waste is high on our agenda. We’re focused on maintaining our zero-waste-to-landfill status at our manufacturing sites, while adopting successful initiatives across the wider business. Whether that’s removing or replacing plastic or turning excess sawdust into fuel, we are re-engineering our products, so they are made from recycled and recyclable materials.

The stats so far

tonnes of waste sawdust is converted into heat for our factories.

%

of depot waste from product and packaging avoids landfill.

%

of our manufacturing waste is reused, recycled, or repurposed.

Reaching zero

Converting sawdust into fuel and giving old timber a new lease of life are just two examples of how we will reach net-zero. We also have an initiative to reduce or remove plastic from our products and packaging.

Converting waste

A by-product of our manufacturing process is sawdust, which we convert to heat using biomass boilers. This generates enough electricity to power 10,000 homes.

A circular economy

We eliminate waste by reusing, replacing, or recycling materials or products. This is to reduce pollution and to regenerate natural resources as part of our circular economy.

Reducing plastic

We replaced 300,000 pieces of polystyrene (EPS) with cardboard in 2022. The next step is to remove EPS completely from the packaging of our products.
